Laura Gallego

When I turn fifteen one of my aunts gave me a trilogy, a fantasy trilogy. That fantasy trilogy was "Memorias de Idhún", written by Laura Gallego, this trilogy was what introduced me to this author.

Laura Gallego is a Spanish author. She strated publishing at the age of twenty-one after winning the Barco de Vapor with a novel called "Finis Mundi". Now she has near twenty books and five trilogys/sagas, but for me is clear that "Memorias de Idhún" was made her one of the most sell authors of fantasy right now, is what made her known. Her latest book is "El ciclo del eterno emperador", but the last book I have read from her is "Los guardianes de la ciudadela" wich is part of the trilogy of "El bestiario de Axlin".

I wanted to write about her because I don't know how she does ti, but every time I submerge in one of her stories everything is so...I can't even put ti into words...is so perfect, the plot intrigues you and you inevitably fall in love with the characters. Her books usually are thick (four hundred pages at least) but I always finish them in a few days, they are so good! And my aunt in my fiftieth birthday was wicked. Her present were the three books of the trilogy, so right after I finish the first one, I had the second one, and when I had already eaten up the second one, I had the third one in my power...I don't think that I was capable of resist more than three weeks, in less I had read the whole trilogy (the first book has five hundred pages, the second seven hundred, the third nine hundred).

If we are talking about a book of Laura Gallego, I'm a complete mess.

Though I haven't read all of her books. I can only do it when someone gives me one of her novels as a present, also when I have money (reading in paper is very expensive) and time.

One book from her that I really recomend is "El lugar donde los árboles cantan" is a beautiful story in a medival setting.

A photograph that I like

This photograph is from the book of Seph Lawless (Seph Lawless Abandoned: hauntingly beautiful deserted theme parks). All the photographs in the book are from different abandoned theme parks, as Disney and also one that seems like Jurasic Park (among others). The book was publish in the 2017.

This whale reminds me of a bouncy game that used to be in the beach, in Viña I think. It was just next to La Picá del Loro, and my dad had a friend who lived there, becuase of that we went on numerous occasions to the place, and I  loved when I was allow to play on the gigantic blue whale. The tirck of the game was that the jaw of the whale often got close and you were "swallow" as you slip dawn it's throat.

That is more like a happy memory and it doesn't quite fit to the photograph of the gloomy whale in the abandoned theme park...Anyways, sometimes when I look the to the photo I like to imagine that the whale's big mouth is aportal or the door to some secret place. It's stupid but I can't help it.

I can't tell why is that I like this kind of things, I guess that is for the same reason I like dystopic stories and depressing songs...I'm attracted to this type of esthetics, but many people are, if not, there wouldn't be this much content of this genre.

My favourite movie

Ok...for me there are different tipes of "favourite movies". There are movies that are really good and I love, but I wouldn't watch them like in a sunday's night, the reason for that is who long some of those movies are or the level of focus I have to have to understend and don't miss anything. And, in the other hand there are movies that I can watch while doing other things; that is very important to me, since I'm a anxious person by nature, I need to be doing something else when I'm sitting watching a movie (lately I have been trying to sit still, it has been really difficult) and for that moments Pride and Pejudice is my golden movie. That is the piece of cinematography that I can watch over and over again without getting sick of the actors or the dialogue...or the plot. Pride and Prejudice is what I watch when I don't have nothing to watch and I want to watch something.

I don't want to talk about specific movies that I like, I chose that one because is really the one I watch the most, but I also have a series that I can watch almost with eyes close: Godless. O-MY-GOD-WHAT-A-GREAT-SERIES. But I'm so frutated becuase I'm studying film and TV and every single one of my partners hates western films (not even thing to talk about The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) and I'm like...but this series is SO good. And yeah...is a series of cowboys and sheriffs and ladys in uncomfortable dresses, but is good! Is in Netflix also, so is not even difficult to find (the director is the same from The Queen's Gambit, Scott Frank).

I watch a number of different movies, Marvel, Harry Potter (I was obsess with HP as a child), movies adapt in the past...also movies of cult and movies that come from books (and I usually read the book as well).

The most recent movie I have watch is Batman. I went to the movies just because everyone is talking about that movie so...I had to watched. Do I recomen it? I don't know, I thougt I would liked more, I can't deny the image is really good and the esthetics of the whole thing is incredible, but is very, very long and the plot is the same thing as always...drogs, policitians, murders, the big villan...I don't know, maybe I'm just not so fan of those tipe of movies. I recomend to watch it because of the image, that is all.

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is probably my tablet. There is nothing really special about it, but I use it every time I'm too lazy to pick up my computer or when I have to read (before it was books for the school, now I read the texts the teachers send to work at home). Also I watch movies on it, more often than in my computer, because my pc is TOO slow, so most of the time is stressful watch anything: the image stops every two seconds, is like I'm watching a movie play by robots.

Those are the main reasons I have to use more my tablet than my computer, but I didn't by my tablet, nor my parents or some aunt for my birthday, I win this piece of technology at a contest of creative writing. It's very funny because it was a contest of the fireman, the organization of the company of the fireman. I don't honestly know if it was because of a day of the fireman, some anniversary of the company...of what ever, but the contest was to write a short story related to the fireman, so I did it...and I won the first place and my prize was this tablet.

So, my life without the tablet wouldn't have been so affected, just because before that I have never had a tablet, now however...I will definitely notice the change, especially when I will go searching in Netflix, Amazon or Mubi, what I do at least  twice a week.

My year so far...

My year so far hasn't being as bad as you may think (with the strike and all). At first was attractive because I expose myself to an env...
